Another great year for the Million Minute Family Challenge!
BELOIT, Wis.— The Million Minute Family Challenge™ has done it again, surpassing their goal of 1 million minutes by 142,432
minutes!
Patch Products, a leading manufacturer of board and card games, organizes the Million Minute Family Challenge every year to
encourage interaction and communication among family and friends by setting a national goal of playing games for at least 1
million minutes during Sept. 1 through Dec. 31.
Participation was high in this year’s Million Minute Family Challenge with a 5 percent increase from last year. A total of
442 groups, clubs, classrooms and families showed interest in the challenge. Texas finished as the highest scoring state with
165,667 minutes and the Decatur GameHawks were the highest scoring group logging an impressive 108,000 minutes!
Other top groups according to number of members included the Watauga Senior Center with 107,990 minutes, REACH Homeschool
Group scoring 49,564 minutes, the CrAzY gAmErS achieving 30,090 minutes and the Boys and Girls Club at Riverside reaching 19
,695 minutes. The Atchley family added 34,990 minutes making them the highest scoring family in the challenge!
Typically, November and December are the highest logging months for the challenge, which was also the case for Susan Agin
Manahawkin’s family who always looks forward to playing board games after Thanksgiving dinner with her family and logging
their minutes.
“This year we had 16 people playing games ranging from my 5 year old nephew to my amazing 97 year old Grandmother, and
everything in between,” said Manahawkin. “We had so much fun; I know this tradition will continue for many years to come!”
