Million Minute Family Challenge™ Logs Record Number of Game-Playing
Minutes
BELOIT, Wis. – People throughout the nation joined together to play games for a record-setting 1,416,525 minutes during the
2008 Million Minute Family Challenge™ from September through December.
Patch Products, a leading manufacturer of board and card games, organizes the Million Minute Family Challenge every year to
encourage interaction and communication among family and friends by setting a national goal of playing games for at least
1 million minutes during the four months.
A total of 298 groups, clubs, classrooms and families logged game-playing minutes during the challenge. The groups logging
the most minutes are:
1. CSRA Gamers Association, Barnwell, S.C., 188,640 minutes.
2. Wurtz Family & Friends, Muncie, Ind., 163,575 minutes.
3. Southeast Branch, Kansas City Public Library, Kansas City, Mo., 109,650 minutes.
4. Northeast Branch, Kansas City Public Library, Kansas City, Mo., 95,121 minutes.
5. L.H. Bluford Branch, Kansas City Public Library, Kansas City, Mo., 94,405 minutes.
The Family Crushers of Oceanside, N.Y., recorded the most minutes for a single family, tallying 20,964.
Missouri again was the highest scoring state with 336,962 minutes, thanks in large part to a competition between three
library branches in the Kansas City, Mo., Public Library System. The three library groups—Southeast Branch, Northeast
Branch, and L.H. Bluford Branch—recorded a total of 299,176 minutes. Libraries are a great place to try new games, and we
appreciate their participation.
In addition to Patch, sponsors of the 2008 Million Minute Family Challenge included Red Robin® Gourmet Burgers,
KOA®, Great Wolf Lodge® resort locations in the U.S., Blue Harbor Resort™ Generations United®.

2008 challenge has ended, the web site is still a good source for games to play and educational information including the
benefits of family time, the history of games and how to use games in the classroom.
